"Diedrick" Carra said her voice filled with the hurt she felt. Anger took her mood again and she slammed her fist on the table.

Adelle breath caught in her throat at that. She placed a hand Carra's shoulder and turned her around to face her. "What about Diedrick?" she asked worriedly.

"He's here." Carra said not hiding the venom in her voice. "Without word, without anything. I hope father sends him away."

Adelle was ecstatic with that news...yet kept it hidden. She caught her daughter's tone and even more so, could almost feel her anger. Though she wanted to rush out and greet her son right then, she remained in the room with Carra. Softly, she spoke, "You must not say such things about your brother, Carra. I'm sure there was a good reason he stopped writing to us...and I know, without a doubt in my heart, that he never intended to hurt you."

"Hurt me? Hurt me? I don't care about him at all how could he hurt me?" Carra's voice cracked as she spoke. "I'm going to bed." She left the room to go to her own room and pallet. Throwing herself down on to he pallet, Carra let he tears return.

Adelle sighed when her daughter left the room. "You must learn to forgive him," she whispered silently. She stayed there silent for a bit before standing up. She headed towards the front door, intent on seeing her son.

"I've hurt everyone, haven't I...father?"
Garr looked his son up and down with hard eyes. "What did you think would happen, boy?"
Diedrick stayed quiet for a bit. "I...don't know. I certainly didn't mean any of this."
Garr made "hmph" sound at that. "But it has happened. It doesn't matter whether you intended it or not. What matters is what you are going to do about it. Will you go back to wallow at your precious," Garr practically spat the word, "school?"
Diedrick lowered his head. "No," he said softly.
"What was that, boy?"
"I said 'no,' father," Diedrick replied harshly. He was getting sick of everyone's accusations, especially his father's, though implied. Diedrick's eyes bore into father's while he spoke his next words. "I am going to stay here and make amends...and you're not going to stop me."
Though he kept the same stoic expression on his face that he always bore, Garr was quite pleased with his son's response. He could see the determination in Diedrick's eyes, determination to right the wrong he has done. It was not something he expected from the boy. To him, it seemed more like something Godfried would do. Maybe some of that lad's spirit actually did rub off on Diedrick. Maybe it just took this long for it to show.
A new voice broke Garr from his thoughts. "Before you start on that mission, you're going to come inside and get a good night's rest." There, on the porch, was Adelle, smiling brightly.

Carra's tears were silent. She thought she had gotten rid of these feelings years ago. Her fingers caressed the wood of her bow, but it brought no comfort. Only one thing ever made her feel better. But she wouldn't take that out no matter what. It was the necklace that Diedrick had given her on her 12th birthday. She had stopped wearing it when the letters had stopped.

At home, Arina paced her room. She couldn't sit down, she was shaking too badly - Diedrick was back. She still wasn't sure she believed her eyes, or her heart. She hadn't stopped crying since she'd got home, pacing and sweeping rapidly at her eyes, her face now blotchy and swollen, not regailing her usual beauty. She had no idea what to do, or what to think. She had thought Diedrick was never coming back - she'd almost been glad. She'd almost hated him. But now she had no idea what she felt. She didn't want to love Diedrick like she used to, but she appeared to have no say in the matter.

Diedrick smiled at his mother and nodded once. He then followed her into the house. Their reunion was cut short, considering how late it was. Diedrick went to his room, a little ways past Carra's room. He smiled again as he looked it over. Everything was left just the way it was when he left, though close inspection would reveal that it was cleaned every now and then. He could tell that it wasn't too long ago since the last cleaning. He did not bother changing at all. Instead, he just laid down on his bed, starring up at the ceiling.

"Damn you, Diedrick." Godfried muttered to no one in particular. He was still away this night, glaring at the scarecrow he normally used as a practice dummy. He held a wooden sword, shaped to resemble his own, in his hands. With a growl he struck the scarecrow twice before backing off.
His mind was a mixture of conufsion, anger, and joy. He was happy that his childhood friend was still alive and well. However, when he thought of what Arina went through, rage replaced that joy. That was the cause of his confusion, his feelings. Equal part joy, equal part anger. With another yell he struck the scarecrow several times. He continued until his rage subsided. By then, the wooden blade had snapped in half and the scarecrow all but destroyed by the repeated strikes. Godfried himself was hunched over, breathing heavily. "Damn you, Diedrick," he muttered again.
OOC: While I did good with this, I can't think of a setup for the next part. So, feel free to skip to the next morning.

Carra was up a moving like she was every morning. If she didn't get an early start then she wouldn't get everything done. When Diedrick had left, Carra had taken on more responsibility and thusly had less time of her own. But another reason she was anxious to get started today was because she did not want to run into Diedrick.
Dressed in normal work clothes, Carra made her way with empty buckets to the well. Her first job was to get water for the days chores. She had to pass both Arina and Godfried's homes to get there. She wondered if they knew about Diedrick. Carra was very tempted to go ask. But she didn't know if they were awake, so she simply started to draw the water from the well.

Arina had been up far too early to notice Carra's passing; it was before daybreak when she took her place sat by the lake. This time, however, she was not staring off into the distance, as if she were waiting, like she normally did. She was staring down, into the water, at her own reflection. She, quite honestly, looked a wreck. Her former beauty seemed tarnished by the fact that she had lost her smile; her hair seemed limp and dull in the soft light of daybreak. Her face, even in the half-decent reflection the water gave, was blotchy and drawn, and there were bags under her eyes. She was nothing of the former happiness she'd been. She lay back on the grass and closed her eyes, then struck up her song again, singing very quietly, almost timidly, like an injured deer.

Carra headed for home both buckets full. Silently she hoped to be off doing more chores before her brother woke. At least then she could pretend he wasn't there. With a sigh, Carra entered the yard trying to block out his existance.

Diedrick woke up slowly this morning, stretching in the process. He laid there for a bit, thinking over last night. In the end, he had hoped that today would be much better. As he got out of bed, he stretched. He wondered if anyone else in the house was awake yet. He sniffed the air a bit, then wrinkled his nose. "First thing's first though," he said to himself. "I need a bath."
He got out of the bed softly, hoping to not disturb anyone if they were still sleeping. He grabbed a change of clothes and left the house. He then started heading towards a more secluded part of the lake.

Carra unfortunitly got home just as Diedrick was leaving. She glared at him and wondered where he was sneaking off to. Noticing the clothes, Carra smirked.
"Here let me help you with that smell" Carra quiped just before splashing an enitre bucket of water on him. "Oh and since you used it, you need to refill it." With that Carra left the empty bucket and continued on her way.

Deidrick sighed as he watched his younger sister leave. It would seem that she still held the same resentment for him that she had last night. With a darkening mood, he grabbed the empty bucket and headed towards the lake. It would seem this day would not be as good as he had originally thought.
