"Alex if you salute me one more time I'll put you in the brig."
Barnes sighed, he hated business with Federation bases; he just wanted to get on with his job.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Thank-you for your co-operation Captain, and don't worry we'll be sure to keep that man in isolation." The ambassador spoke as he and Barnes were walking along the corridor. He noticed the concern in Barnes' face; "Don't worry, Barnes, I'm sure you'll find your new crewmen are more than capable of assisting you on your mission."
"I'm sure they will be." Barnes forced himself to smile as they reached the transporter room. The ambassador stepped onto a transporter pad.
"We'll have your new men beamed over right away." The ambassador stood with his hands behind his back.
"Can't wait." Barnes replied as the ambassador disappeared.
He awaited the arrival of his new crewmen.

"I'll bear that in mind, but no promises." Faulkner grinned to the Captain.
__________
Faulkner headed into the transporter room and stood by the Captain to receive the new arrivals: "We're all set to head out as soon as you give the order." he informed him: "And T'Vara insisted I inform you that we are once again fully stocked on medical supplies." he continued, wondering himself as he stood, arms behind his back, who they would be getting as replacement crew members.
Not long after he had spoken, the transporter pad lit up and the first new arrival was beamed aboard.
Occupying the previously empty space was a Human woman of slight build, middling height, and pale flesh, in a blue Starfleet uniform, with a badge of the science crew on her chest. Her blonde hair was arranged in a short bob around her head, and she regarded the transporter room and the people in it through mousy brown eyes and a pair of rounded spectacles. Upon seeing her superiors, she saluted them rather clumsily, still adjusting to her new surrounding, as she introduced herself: "Lieutenant-Commander Jasmine Holloway, Chief Science Officer reporting for duty sir." her arm fell back down to her side as she studied her surroundings: "Never been on a warship before. Actually, not been on many ships come to think of it. Outside of transports that is. Usually work on starbases and such or labs planetside and..." she stopped herself; her tones had a subtle Australian tinge to them, as though she had not been born there, but rather naturalised to the accents from a young age: "Am I rambling again? Sorry. I tend to do that. Quite a lot actually. Especially when I get nervous." she realised she was about to start again and simply looked down at the floor instead, a slight blush creeping into her cheeks.

"Relax Lieutenant-Commander, I'm Captain Ryan Barnes, welcome aboard. I'm sure we can organise a tour for you if you'd like." Barnes smiled but his mind was elsewhere. "Ensign, show our new science officer to her quarters please." He pointed to a random red-shirted crewmen stood in the corner. The ensign nodded, picked up her bags and gestured for Jasmine Holloway to follow him.
Barnes ran his hand through his hair once they had left and noticed Faulkner looking at him, "Don't look at me like that, Alex; I'm fine. Just a long day."

The look of relief on Jasmine's face was palpable as Barnes spoke. It took all her composure not to yelp and punch the air happily that her awkwardness hadn't rubbed her commanding officers the wrong way.
A simple smile and a: "Thank you sir." was what she made herself do instead, then followed after the Ensign, blush fading from her cheeks.
Faulkner, after introducing himself to Jasmine, looked to the Captain after she had left: "I understand." he said: "And with respect, they didn't assign me as your First Officer just to plan the routes, Ryan. They put me here so you could talk to someone about the long days if you need to."
"On the bright side, she seemed a decent girl, if a little jumpy. Just as long as she doesn't drop any deadly alien samples or contagious viruses if someone enters a room unexpectedly, she should fit in just fine." he said, trying to lighten the mood a little: "Though if she did do that second one, I wouldn't expect her to survive the protocol lecture T'Vara would deal her, in between curing the crew."

Once the Commander had been escorted away and transported down Kyle found himself with very little to do. So he settled for simply making his way towards some food. He hadn't had anything since he'd awoken and that was hitting him with a growling stomach. In the mess he found a tray, ordered some food, grabbed some coffee and found a seat in the room at a table by himself.
There weren't many people in the room and even if there was, he wasn't much up to feeling like chatting. Sleep was daring to edge on the periphery of his vision with taunts and he sighed. A yawn freed itself and he hid it behind a hand before he picked up his fork and started on his food.

Barnes chuckled at Faulkner's remarks and appreciated him changing the subject but thought he ought to take it back for a moment, knowing it would be interrupted any minute by the next crewmen beaming across.
"No one assigned you here y'know, I asked for you. And not so we could unwind and have slumber parties whilst talking about our emotions, before you think that. You're good at keeping your head." He kept his eyes ahead looking at the transporter pad and, as if scripted, someone started to beam across, nicely avoiding the awkwardness of a reply.

Chief Engineer Zachary Chamberlin appeared in a previously emtpy space in the transport room with a grin. It was good to get out again. Starfleet had had him working on ground ships since he was capable and it had been driving him mad. Now. Now he was going out into the far reaches of space and taking care of one engine and not five. "Captain," he said. "Chief Engineer Zach Chamberlin, you can just call me Zach sir." And he offered a salute as a last minute thought.

"We'll stick to Lieutenant Chamberlin for now." Barnes spoke formally. "You'll be working with one of my best engineers until I feel you are capable of running engineering on your own." He forced a small grin.
"Ensign, to his quarters please."

Zach's smile dropped. He didn't want to be working under anybody. And when the Captain said Chamberlin. He pulled a face at that. He didn't like his name. Never had. He'd always asked that people called him Zach and most of the time it had worked. "Yes Captain," he said less than enthusiastically.
He picked up one of his bags and started moving out of the room. It was going to take a long time before the Captain let him touch anything without somebody looking over his shoulder. He gave a sigh as he left the room. "Damn Starfleet," he muttered underneath his breath.

Faulkner simply smiled in response as the transported lit up once again, and the man began to appear. Well, it had been nice to know he'd been specifically requested for this ship.
He turned his attention to the new Engineer as the man began to speak; he took the opportunity to introduce himself as well, before the Captain explained the situation to him. Judging by the look on his face, that wasn't what their new arrival had hoped for.
'Well, he was eager at first.' he thought: "Cheery fellow." he said: "That's everyone now isn't it?" he asked Barnes.

"Set us back on course when we get back to the bridge" Barnes ordered, ignoring his other statements. "Let's hope the rest of the mission is nice and simple."
--------------------------
He arrived on the bridge, Kearney announced "Captain on the Bridge" and Barnes sat down. "Kearney!" he announced much too joyfully, "You're our communications officer, how would you like to communicate with our new crew members whilst your giving them a tour of the ship?"
Kearney turned to face the captain, "Do I have a choice?" "Nope!" Barnes quickly replied, "It's an order, have fun." Kearney rolled his eyes, stood and left the bridge.

"Aye Sir." Faulkner replied, following the Captain to the bridge.
__________
Taking his usual place, Faulkner sent the route to the Romulan ship to Dawson: "Full ahead, miss Dawson." he turned in his seat to the Captain: "Should be a straight shot; two hours, give or take a few minutes."
He couldn't help but smile a little at the exchange bewteen the Captain and Kearney.

"Yes sir!" Jessica said. She moved her hands over the controls and soon had the ship moving.
____
Zach was escorted to his room by teh Ensign and dropped his bags in the room. So this was Oblivion. He sighed and thanked the Ensign. He just wanted to get into the engine room and just get sunk into the engines.

T'Vara was busying herself updating the logs for the medical supplies, and finalising everything for the mission ahead. She also updated the prescription to Summers, and had the analysis working on the exact radiation type that had afflicted the Romulan prisoner.
She was also aware that she'd need to update medical records and perform routine check ups on their two new crew members; the quicker the better in her mind.
__________
Jasmine was quite impressed by her quarters, simply because they were on a ship like this; it was a whole new experience, a frontline warship, and she was excited, if more than a little nervous about getting started and meeting everyone else on board.
She almost tripped over her bags as she looked around the room, then finally started to unpack her things before the tour of the ship the Captain had mentioned.

Kearney pressed the buzzer outside Jasmine's quarters and waited for her to say he could come in. He wondered what she'd be like; he hoped this time she wouldn't be Vulcan, he never managed to get a decent conversation out of them.
