Jasmine was just in the middle of putting everything away when the buzzer sounded, startling her out of her thoughts and making her drop the pile of underwear she was holding: "Damn it!" she hurriedly collected the fallen garments and stuffed them into the drawers: "Just a moment!" she called out, before checking around the room to make sure that there wasn't anything else embarrassing on view; fortunately for her, the only things left out was a dressing gown on the bed along with the pair of fluffy slippers, and the now empty bags, which she placed in the wardrobe and hurried to the door.
Placing her hand on the panel, the doors slid open and she saw the man outside, glancing briefly at the rank pins; not a superior, so she could have a less stuffy introduction: "Hi!" she said brightly, with a warm smile: "Jasmine Holloway, pleased to meet you." she offered her hand.

Zach worked on putting his things away. No doubt soon somebody would be turning up to give him a tour of the place. Unless the Captain was anymore of a sod who didn't take too kindly to new people. He hadn't done anything wrong had he? He just wanted to do his job.
Angrily he stuffed some clothes into drawers and slammed them shut. He did not need to be babysat in the engine room. This was why he had worked so hard in Starfleet. Engines were his love and life. He sighed and put an empty bag into the cupboard. He shrugged it off. It wouldn't be long anyway before he could run around the engine himeslf, unsupervised, and it was that thought that put him in a better mood.

Kearney lent against the door frame. "Ben Kearney, please t'meet you" he spoke in his strong Irish accent. "Ready for the tour?" He looked over her shoulder and noticed a pair of fluffy slippers and couldn't help but smile.

"I've been looking forwards to this part." Jasmine smiled again to Kearney: "I've always wanted to see a ship like this, and serving on one will be a great chance to do some good and see space and meet new people and all kinds of aliens and." she stopped herself: "Try to work on the rambling." she bit her lip a little awkwardly: "Anyway, a pleasure to meet you Ben!" she quickly added: "Shall we?" she got ready to follow his lead.

Ben smiled at her ramblings; "cute" he thought. "C'mon then," he said at last, "We need to pick up the new engineer." he led the way to Zach's quarters and pressed the buzzer outside.

He eyed the door when it rung. Then he turned his eyes to the bags and sighed. "They can wait," and he moved to the door and opened it. Outside stood two humans, a guy, who looked like he belonged on the bridge, years of working in Starfleet had allowed him to pick them out with ease, and a woman that belonged to the science department. A cute one at that. He smiled at them both. "Tour guide I bet? Name's Zach."

He nodded. "Sure," and he closed the door to his room. "Nice to meet you Ben, and Jasmine. So what do you do here?"

"Nice to meet you too Zach!" Jasmine beamed; this ship had such nice people on it, and after the Captain and his second had been so nice when she'd shown up, the others following suit was more than she'd hoped for: "I never did ask that did I?" she realised. Recognising the Engineering uniform on Zach: "As for me, I just got transferred as Chief Science Officer." she replied.

"I work on the bridge as communications officer; it's not that exciting but I can speak a lot of languages. So, shall we start with the refectory?" He beckoned them to follow him as he began to walk down the corridor.

"That sounds good; I don't suppose we'd have time to grab something to eat in there would we?" Jasmine asked; she hadn't eaten all morning, being nervous about being transferred to a frontline warship, all she'd managed was a little tea, and she was pretty certain mints didn't count as actual food: "Only I haven't had the chance so far." she followed after Kearney.

"I'm the newly transferred Cheif Engineer." He walked beside her as they followed Faulkner through the ship. "How are you finding it so far?"

"I don't see why not," Kearney replied, "though don't get too excited about the food, our replicators aren't the best." He looked at Zach when he said, "I guess you can fix that for us though, eh Zach?"

"I guess I can," he said with a grin. Fixing replicators. That was not something he had in mind but he followed behind Kearney as they entered the room.

Kyle lifted his eyes with curiosity as two new members of the crew entered. One of the wore a science officer's uniform while the other was dressed in red. He hadn't been called to meet them so he guessed the guy was engineering. "I wonder why they're here," he thought to himself as he took another sip of coffee.

"I already love it!" Jasmine said in response to Zach: "Everyone's been so nice to me so far, which is good, because I was worried I might not fit in what with only working in labs for the last few years; it's not like there weren't other people around, it's just that I'm just not used to working under other conditions yet, but I'm sure I will be soon." she was doing it again wasn't she?
"I'll just be happy to eat something." she smiled to Kearney as she followed him into the refectory, gathering a tray and some food, noting a few other people already in the area besides themselves.
