WELCOME TO PURGATORY! The place where the baddest of the bad are sent. Creatures from Hell are afraid to face these monsters and you have been sent here too. By accident. Your challenge?
Survive.
Kill or be killed is the ruling here. Don't trust a soul and don't think you have friends because chances are you don't.
Now, if you're human you have a way out. Where that is is a mystery and very few now the real location of this way out. Good luck. Happy Huntings. Have fun.

Carrie pumped her legs and ignored the screaming in their muscles. Behind her twigs snapped and leaves crumpled under rushing footsteps. How much she wanted to stop and rest.
But she couldn't.
They were still following her, chasing her and ready to rip her throat out. Chest heaving with heavy pants she pushed her legs further. The clearing she'd been coerced into started to fall away to form the start of a forest. A safe haven for a short while at least.
She ran and pulled the makeshift knife she'd grabbed from somebody else she'd tackled. Said person was chasing her. She twisted the handle in her hand and slipped behind a cluster of trees, knife to her chest.
And she waited, her face determined and eyes fixed with seriousness. There was no way she was dying today.

Jacob crouched on a high branch near the start of the forest; he'd always been good at climbing and he was quick and light on his feet. He heard them coming and aimed at the ready. He'd made a bow out of a good tree branch and a knife, arrows alike. He saw a girl running as fast as she could, being followed by 2 huge men; if you could call them that. It was hard to tell what was human round here. One of the beasts slowed behind the other; so he took this one out first with an arrow between the eyes. The other beast hadn't noticed, which gave Jacob a better chance. He aimed, taking into account the drop of the arrow and the speed of the beast, and shot him in the chest. The beast fell with a thud next to where the girl was cowering.

Two thuds sounded and Carrie frowned as she peered around the tree. The two creatures that had been following her were on the ground. Dead. She stepped out into the open and looked around. Who in their right mind would help her out? Last time she checked it was humans vs everyone else. And she was yet to meet another human.
Her eyes peered through the dark and she was going to give it five more seconds before something slammed into her side. It sent her to the ground and a set of teeth worked their way into her shoulder. "Argh!"
She used all of her weight to roll herself on top of the creature and she dug her elbow into its side. Its mouth released her and she managed to swing her elbow up into its face before she jumped off. The knife she'd dropped was glinting in the dim lighting and she scurried for it.
Her fingers had just about caught the handle when it dragged her back to it with her ankle. She turned, lifted the knife and drove it straight into the creature. It squirmed above her as she twisted the knife in its place and seconds later it slumped on top of her. Dead.
"Oh god," she muttered and she pushed it to one side and pulled the knife out. Fresh blood decorated her front and she lay there, just panting, ignoring the pain in her shoulder.

Jacob watched the girl. Definitely human. He contemplated what to do next as he tried to figure out whether or not she was a threat. He kept his hand on his bow ready to fire, and himself hidden in the branches as he called down; "You know, lying on the floor covered in blood isn't exactly the safest place to hide."

Carrie jumped. She rolled, hissed as she rolled onto her bad shoulder and bolted to her feet. The knife was clutched in a white knuckle grip and she eyed the surroundings. "Who the hell are you?"

"Your knight in shining armour apparently." he joked. He peered at her through the branches; "Hey, are you human? Like, actually human?"

Carrie turned her eyes in front of her. Whoever he was he was somebody in front of him. Part of her said up but she couldn't be certain. There were howls in the distance and she jerked her head in that direction temporarily. Then she was back to facing the wooded area. Copper hung itself in the air and it made her noise twitch. Her clothes were slick against her skin and she grimaced. "Why? Are you?"
She licked her lips, tasted blood and gagged at the taste of blood. "If you're human then show me."

"If I wasn't human, would I be asking if you were?"
Jacob hopped down from his branch, landing with his knees bent to prevent injury. He kept his bow ready but pointing down to the floor as he made himself visible to the girl.
His hair was long enough to cover his eyes and was uneven in length from where he had hacked at it with a knife. It was a dark colour, almost black, and his skin was a tanned brown. He was of average height but fairly muscular, as everyone in this world was, although would probably be considered quite skinny in relation to the older humans that somewhere roamed this Earth. He still had growing to do though, and the stubble growing through his chin made him look older in appearance. These were facts that Jacob did not know, as he did not own a mirror and reflections in water could only show you so much.

Carrie frowned at him. "Maybe. There have been others that have done that." He looked like he'd been around the park a few times, but who hadn't who was still alive. She ground her teeth together and tightened her grip on the knife. She didn't want to be too trusting.
Brown hair had been stained to a near darkness by the blood and it was thrown up in a knot of thread. As she took in his appearance she considered her own, fairly tall with enough muscle to protect herself. At least she had since she'd come to this place. Her clothes were stained, blood, dirt, water and any other substances she didn't want to think about.
"How did you get a bow?"

"Made it." Jacob loosened his pull on the bow string and twiddled the arrow in his fingers. "I trust you." He decided in that moment. "No offence, but you need a wash."

She frowned at his statement of trust. Trust wasn't an easy thing to do in this place. Then he made a comment about needing a wash. "No shit," she muttered and she allowed herself to loosen the grip on her knife. "What's your name?"

"Jacob" he smiled as he started to walk away, "yours?"

She considered just letting him walk away on his own, turn and walk in the other direction herself. But then he had killed two creatures for her. Maybe a second hand wouldn't be too bad. She moved to catch up and she walked beside him. "Carrie."
Nothing but trees followed in their paths and she turned her head to Jacob. "Where are we going?"

"There's a stream about 15 minutes this way, I figured you'd wanna wash up." He carried on walking, wondering where she'd come from, whether she knew more people. Jacob thought back to his family. He'd not seen another human in over two years, but he used to be in a camp with twenty of them, including his parents. Until they were attacked. He realised where his mind was going and decided to speak up; "So how old are you?"

It was a simple question and it required a simple answer. Just a number. An age. But her mind couldn't fix up a number. How long had she been here? Five years? Or was it seven? She'd lost track after three and after that she could only guess how long the years were and how old she really was. "Twenty five, you?"
