Hector didn't say anything more as he got into the car. Though outside, he kept a cheerful disposition, inside his head, his father's words echoed. 'Should I even keep you as my heir?'
Hector sighed. His father was right...as was his sister. Who would listen to him if he were king?
Hector roughly shove those thoughts away. It wouldn't do for him to get bitter today.

It didn't take Odysseus long to maneuver the streets along the path that he frequently took. they were soon at school, and Odysseus gave Cassandra hand a squeeze as she said her thanks and got out of the car. They could hear the tardy bell ring as Cassandra gave a barely noticable squeeze back.
Cassandra didn't really care how late she was, most people didn't even notice her and she liked it that way.

Damn, Hector thought to himself when the bell rang. “Thanks for the ride,” he said to Odysseus as he got out of the car. He hoped he’d be able to slip into class without being noticed today.

Odysseus smiled to himself as he drove off. He had noticed the squeeze. Knowing Cassandra's past, Odysseus didn't want to push her or move too quickly. These sort of things took time. So he would wait and drop hints waiting until he felt she was ready for a relationship. When he got to his own campus a girl was waiting by his parking spot. Penelope gave Odysseus a friendly smile. She was in his Poli Sci course and they were working on a project together. So he suspected nothing by her behavior.

Cassandra wandered in to her first class. AP Lit. was always one of her better subjects. The biggest problem she had with this class were the people in the class, Helena and Menelaus. She didn't know why but she felt that this girl would ruin everything if she had the chance.

Hector wandered to his first class of the day, Physics. He stopped short though, seeing the door closed. "Damn," he muttered to himself. There'd be no sneaking in today. Hector sighed to himself and knocked on the door. It wasn't long until the teacher came and opened the door.
"Late again, I see," Professor Gaia Geroellis commented.
"Yeah," Hector said as he lowered his head.
Gaia shook her head and sighed. "Fine. Go sit down."
Hector did as he was told, head still lowered. He took his normal seat in the back, by the window.

Nothing very eventful happened during her first few classes. So Cassandra's mind wandered as she went to her usual quiet spot in the quad to eat her lunch. And wander it did. It wandered to Odysseus. The more she thought, the more she liked. He didn't patronize her. He seemed genuinely interested in her. Was she mistaking a long friendship for feelings of something more? Cassandra wasn't sure.
It was as she was lost in these thoughts that something actually happened...

Hector passed through his classes silently, lost in thought. He wasn't able to get his mind off of his father's words. It seemed to him as if he wouldn't be able to today. That notion was short lived, however. It was as he walked through the quad that he heard it, a loud, feral scream, "HECTOR!"
"Achilles," Hector muttered to himself as the sense of his surroundings came rushing back to him.

Cassandra looked up when she heard Achilles shouting. Already the crowd in the quad was clearing between Hector and Achilles, well, except for Achilles cronies that stood behind him. Watching Cassandra knew this wouldn't end well, for certian word would get back to her father no matter the result of this confrontation. As much as she wanted to help her brother, Cassandra stayed at the edge of the crowd watching.
Her brother and Odysseus may not scorn or laugh at her but everyone else did. It wouldn't help Hector at all to remind everyone that he was related to Crazy Cassy. So she scarcely breathed as she watched.

Helena paused, causing Menelaus to be slightly confused as to why he was jerked to a stop. Normally, he tried to avoid watching the fights; Helena never seemed to be very interested in them. However, today it was her who stopped him, and as he glanced at the two who the ring had formed around, he could tell why.

Hector sighed. He had enough encounters with Achilles to know that there was no point in trying to talk him out of fighting, not even for a moment. With his right hand in his pocket, Hector looked up to face his fiercest rival. “So, are you ready to begin?”
Achilles responded with another roar of his name and a charge, fist cocked back. Hector easily avoided the punch that came towards his face, moving sideways in the direction of the punch. Achilles, even more enraged, quickly recovered from his missed attack. He spun to face Hector again and sent several more punches towards him. For his part, Hector parried every one of them, knocking them out of the way.
Achilles’ onslaught continued, met with Hector’s continuous defense. Another punch started towards Hector’s gut…only to stop in mid swing when Hector went for the parry. Damnit, he thought. He knew he wouldn’t be able to parry the next one in time. Instead, he did the only thing he could think of.
Though it had missed, Hector slid in the direction he went to parry. As he did so, he turned his body to face Achilles and sent his own punch towards him. Both punches had met their mark at the same time.
Hector was knocked backwards from the blow, a small trickle of blood flying from his mouth in the process. He quickly recovered before he could hit the ground and straightened up. He raised his head quickly to see his opponent.
Achilles was already standing when Hector laid eyes on him. A small drop of blood ran down from his mouth too. Strangely, Achilles hadn’t pressed the attack yet. Instead he just glared.
“Heh,” Hector muttered as he rose to his feet. “You’ve gotten quicker.”

Cassandra kept quiet as long as she could. But the brief break gave her an oppertunity before the fight went any further. She ran over to Hector with a handkerchief.
"Stop this nonsense. Father won't like it." She whispered to him as she wiped the little bit of blood away. "Don't let Achilles goad you. You know you can beat him. Just let it be" Her eyes tried to plead her case as well as she looked at him.

Briefly, Hector took his eyes off of Achilles and looked at his sister, nodding once. He recognized the truth of what she was saying. However, he would not get far...
"Is that, huh?" Achilles taunted. "You let women steer you away from battle?"
Hector just ignored him, but did give him the finger. That set the battle crazed boy off. With a howl, he immediately ran towards Hector.
The young prince had seen this kind of run many times before. He knew just how to stop it. In one smooth motion, he grabbed a hold of Cassandra and move her to his back as he turned his side towards Achilles. While turning, he brought his left leg up. Just like a piston, he shot it forward into Achilles' stomach. The strength of the blow was doubled due to the other boy's momentum. It was enough to drop him to his knees, clutching his stomach.

"I didn't mean...." Cassandra said softly. "Sorry." she mumbled letting her defenses come up again. She hadn't meant to embarrass Hector or to get in the way. But it looked like she had done both.

"Hey, hey, it's ok, little sister," Hector said with a smile. "All that matters is that this little fight is over now."

Cassandra nodded as the bell rang. She was grateful to make the excuse that she had to get to class. With a quick goodbye to Hector, Cassandra hurried off. She could feel people staring at her and the sooner she was in class the better. She sat at the back of the room and said nothing.
