Zombie Sam groaned, trying to lunge at Frank before the man disappeared. There was another man that was within his reach and he grabbed his neck and chewed through the soft muscle and skin there.

"FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!" Brian shouted, he picked up the heaviest object he could find and whilst the zombie was biting into the person he'd barely spoke too he started to bash it around the head.

It all turned to hell in a matter of seconds. The student pair were laughing at Poppy’s insistence on playing, but when they heard there was an actual zombie the mood shifted dramatically. There was a pregnant woman and a disabled child, they would need protecting from this. Beth dashed over to this pair whilst Lee whistled for Poppy to run back. The Labrador did so instantly, but her fur was stuck up to show her aggravation. Her fangs were bared at the undead man. Lee looked at Henry who’d now put his gun away fortunately – George had gone to that effort to take the zombies away from here, he didn’t want a gunshot bringing them back.
“You two,” Beth began in a calm voice as she spoke to the pregnant lady and disabled child “I’m here to help. We might have to move, and I’ll give you both a hand if that’s the case.”
Beth sounded alright and commanding, but she was holding back nerves. The zombie was gnawing on the neck of the man like it was nothing. That frightened even her, never mind a young boy. The man who looked relatively familiar was dealing with it, so it seemed. She watched as Lee ran to help, a rusty iron crowbar in his hand. Lee held it ready to strike if the man hadn’t killed the walker.

Henry had put his gun away and smiled as the dog tried to gather the attention of the people in the room. Seeing something so simple, as a dog being a dog, was a welcome relief to what he'd been facing for months. Alone.
He'd started up in Felthorpe, a little town just outside of Norwich. That whole area had been hell to deal with and he'd watched people die all around him, unable to do anything.
Then there was a zombie inside and he stopped himself from drawing his gun again. It was instinct, it had been for years and even more so now with danger behind every door. He was taken aback by the sight of the man bashing the zombie in the head, and bashing, and bashing, and bashing. Henry eyed the man cautiously. He had problems as he continued to hit the unmoving, thoroughly bashed in zombie beneath him. "I think it's dead," he said. The mush on the floor was only becoming a greater mess.

Brian stood up and threw down whatever he was holding.
"That guy had been in this church with us for hours, and he knew he was bit. He said nothing and put everyone here at risk. If I lose my temper a bit at that then I think I'm well within my rights to bash his head in." He looked towards the guy the zombie bit into.
"Is that guy dead? If so can someone else deal with him? It's someone else turn."

"Thank you." Heather said, looking up at the person speaking to her. "I'll be okay pushing him when I've stood up." Getting up was always the hardest part, but she was fairly fast at running with him.
Frank grabbed his hair in fists and began to pant in panic.

The crowbar crunched against the zombies skull, and then Lee swung it into the bitten man’s head as well just in case he too reanimated. After swinging three times, Lee thought the man would not reanimate. He turned with blood now spattererd up his pants. He tried to calm his breathing. He gave a nod to Beth who looked ready to speak to this group of people. She smiled to the young disabled boy and then put herself in the centre of the room.
“Look; me and Lee here,” she gestured to the student with the crowbar “don’t know any of you folks. We came here for supplies, ammo principally, and then we were going to go. However, our camp has been searching for any survivors, like you guys. We have security. We have food… and you,” she now gestured to Heather “we even have a doctor, so when little legs comes out you’ll have someone to help.”
She looked at the group of survivors, eyed each one up and down. Poppy seemed to take a shine to the Henry bloke. The Labrador rolled on her belly in front of the man.
“Can we just clear something up though? Nobody else is bitten are they?”

Henry smiled down at the dog as he listened. "Hey there boy," he said and he crouched to rub the dog behind the ears.
A camp. Full of people. Survivors. His mood lifted and he smiled up at Beth. "That sounds great." Over the past few weeks he had been worried that he wouldn't meet anybody else, that perhaps he had been the last human in England. He'd travelled far enough to believe that.
He continued to rub the dog behind the ears and under its chin. "What's its name?"

Heather looked at Beth, filled with joy, "A doctor? Oh please, please take us there. We haven't been bitten, neither me or Charlie here."
"No we're not like the ill people," Charlie smiled, "mummy just needs a doctor 'cause my sister's umpatient."
"Impatient, sweetie." Heather corrected, kissing him on the forehead.

Brian was pacing back and forth for a few minutes after the whole zombie thing. He couldn't believe he'd been stupid enough to take people at their word that they hadn't been bitten but everyone around him seemed okay and had been there long enough that if symptoms had shown they would have turned like Sam had.
"Greg, your the only person here that I trust well enough. Do you wanna start grabbing anything together that can be used as a weapon. If were gunna be traveling were gunna need to defend ourselves." Greg moved off to do as he was told and Brian turned to those from the camp.
"As far as I can tell no one else is bit. My names Brian by the way. I've got two questions before we go any further though. How far away is the camp and what was the deal with the God music?"

“Girl,” Beth said to Henry on the subject of the dog “and her name’s Poppy. She’s quite the softie, loyal to folks and doesn’t misbehave too much for a young’un. Did piss on Lee’s foot once, that was something hilarious.”
She covered her mouth as she realized she had sworn in front of Charlie. She blushed, feeling bad, but then let her hands fall to her side again – she had shown she thought it was bad to swear, hopefully that was enough. She turned to Heather now.
“Doc Ryans is a good guy, seems to work magic on any kind of ailment we have in the group. Think it was one of the Hammad twins who had severe food poisoning just last week, she was right as rain as soon as the Doc took a look. He’ll happily help you out… I’m sorry, what was your name?”
Whilst Beth had been talking to Heather, Lee was patrolling the church with his bloodied crowbar. He didn’t mean to look imposing or scary, but it was hard not too when you had a weapon slick with gore in your hands. He placed it on the floor and took a seat on a pew near Brian.
“Hey Brian, let’s hope you’re right about nobody else being bit man. Don’t need to lobotomize anymore today, it’s messy work. The camp’s a fair bit of a walk. About three hours away, depending on how clear things are really. The God music – I’ll let George explain that one whenever he gets his ass back here.”
Lee smirked at Brian in a cocky but friendly way. Out the corner of his eye he saw Frank who hadn’t fessed up to being bitten, and he had been awfully close to the attacking zombie in this church. The man was holding his hair right now. He could have quite easily been an extra in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Lee pointed at the bloke.
“Yo nutter, you’ve not spoke. You ain’t been nibbled on?"

Henry nodded as he moved his hands to rub Poppy's belly. "Who's a good girl?" he muttered with a grin, continuing his rubs. If they left him here to stroke the dog all day he would not be completely disheartened.
He knew he should talk to people, try to interact with them but months of solidarity had ruined his people skills. For now, he could work with the dog and make his way up from there. Trying to talk to a room full of people was a shock to the system after all.
"Which way?" he said to Beth, eyes fixed on the dog. "North, south or west? It couldn't be east, that's where I came from and I didn't see much of a camp anywhere out there."

"Heather" she replied. Overwhelmed by the good news. She thanked the Lord our God for bringing these people to her. Charlie looked worried. "We can't go yet." He said. "We've got to wait for daddy and Howard to catch up." "They'll find us, baby. They're very clever."
Frank turned to the man who'd referred to him as a 'nutter'. "N-n-no I'm f-f-fine. And I'm not a n-n-n-nutter!"

Brian could get used to having that Lee guy around, took a bit of the pressure off him a bit too someone else having a better idea of what to do. Since the original outbreak he'd wandered around various parts of the town finding and helping people get out. He however just couldn't leave, he didn't know why. It might just have been that he was too attached to the place but lately he'd got the yearning to head off somewhere new more and more as less survivors had shown up. He'd seen a lot of people die and he didn't know if he had it in him to be the one in charge if it all went wrong again.
Greg had finished picking up anything that could be used as a weapon and handed it out to anyone able to wield something that didn't already have anything in their hands.
"All right guys anyone else want anything sharp or blunt to hit things with?" Greg wasn't one to beat around the bush.

Beth smiled at Heather; she took a shine to the mother who seemed to have things under control despite the world being as hellish as it was. She was sweet and caring, but strong and confident enough. Beth aspired to that kind of attitude. She had thought Naomi back at camp was like that, but nowadays that woman just spent way too much time with Simon being a schoolgirl in a lovey-dovey relationship. She turned to Henry.
“North. Little Hadham. You’d all be welcome in the camp.”
Lee liked Greg’s initiative of arming the folks; but they wouldn’t be moving out without supplies. That was the whole reason they had come here. And Lee still had his doubts about the nutter. As if on cue, George called out to the students in the church;
“Drove them biters east. Put the car on a hill, took the handbrake off and left the bible music blaring. Should give us time. Bad news about the supply situation though, the Air Training Corps has been burnt down. All the little shops been raided too by looks of it. Don’t think camp’s gonna be too happy if we turn up empty handed.”
Beth ran to the door, opened up and let George in. He seemed fine, a bit sweaty, but not hurt at least.
“We’re not empty handed George. We’ve found survivors, just like Naomi’s been looking for!”
