James just smiled in his slightly condescending, always bemused way.
"Your Aunt may see the best in everyone, but it appears you see the worst," he said, raising an eyebrow. "Do not worry, dearheart. I require your Aunt's assistance. If anything, she is in a position to take advantage of me, not the other way around." He smiled again. "Watch me all you like, my dear. But people tend to get odd ideas when that happens." He raised both eyebrows, wrinkled his nose, and turned back to face the way he was originally travelling. "I bid you farewell, Miss. Star. No doubt I shall be seeing you very soon."

Jackie didn't like how smooth the guy had been and she was flustered.
"That's right walk away. AND I'M NOT YOUR DEARHEART!" she shouted after him drawing many stares. Jackie glared back and hurried back to the apartment she shared with Genny above the store. When she got back she noticed, Genny getting ready to go out.
"Where are you going?" Jackie asked knowing something was different about the way Genny was preparing.
"To the house." Genny said cryptically. Jackie looked surprised. The 'house' that Genny spoke of was about an hour north of the city. It's design dated back a few hundred years and kept in perfect condition, thanks to the work of Genny. Jackie didn't know why, sure it was great place to go to when one wanted to get away, but why that much work for a house one rarely stayed at.
"Does this have something to do with that man?" Jackie asked. "If it does, I'm coming with you." She grabbed her keys off the hook.
"You my dear, are going to stay right here. And yes it has to do with James Star-Anise." Genny said reproachfully. "If you had taken time to ask his name instead of berating him, you might have known that." Jackie scowled. Genny was always correcting her when it came to her firey temper. "Oh and I won't be needing a transport." Thats when Genny winked. She didn't know how, but Aunt Genny had a way of getting around that didn't involve normal means.
Jackie practically growled as she sat down on the couch and Genny had to stifle her laugh. Genny continued to get ready by placing a cloak with a hood on and picking up a package wrapped in brown paper.
"Don't wait up." Genny said before flipping up the hood and leaving her charging fuming on the on the couch. Then Jackie got an idea in her head as she played with the keys in her hand. She smiled as she headed for the street by route of the fire escape.

James sighed as he shrugged off his jacket and clicked the door shut behind him. He looked around the tiny one-bed apartment, and frowned.
"Hey, Kira?" he shouted into the apartment. There was no repsonse. He looked around quizically. "Kira Starannise! Where have you gotten to?" He walked through the apartment, looking around him with a slightly worried look. It wasn't as if there was anywhere to go; a couch, a low-budget tv, a tiny kitchen area, and the bedroom. He crossed the floor to the bedroom, and was about to knock as he heard an almighty screech from the room, and the sound of scrabbling and tearing claws. He paused, looking slightly bewildered, before the sound stopped, and there was a muffled THUD, as if something had fallen onto something very soft.
James pushed open the door to the small bedroom. The first thing he noticed was the ceiling, paper torn to shreds large, finger width scratches in the plaster. He sighed, and cast his eyes to the bed, on which lay Kira, spread out as if she'd just fallen backwards onto the bed, gazing at the ceiling vacantly.
"There was a moth," she said simply, not moving her eyeline to look at James. James sighed again, and sat down on the edge of the bed. She wasn't well dressed, by any means. Most of her clothes were far too big, and she wore a simple shirt and jeans held up with a thick belt. The shirt was torn to shreds. Her hair, although matted and unbrushed, had two distinctly pointed objects pointing out of the mass. Her eyes were the same as James's, amber coloured, and as she spoke her thin, pointed teeth were visible. Besides James on the bed, a dark, furry length of rope was swishing slightly. He leant over, and stroked Kira's hair softly; something she'd always seemed to like.
"It's gonna fix soon enough, Kir. I'm gonna make it." He smiled a soft smile at her. Now he mused her, she looked to be around the same age as the younger Ms. Star. He mused on this for a moment, before standing up again. Kira's eyes followed him.
"Where you going, James?" she said, looking very confused and rather upset.
"Going to see a friend, Kir. Quite a bit north," he said, inspecting the card briefly, "You stay here, and I'll come back super quick, okay?"
Kira frowned. "But I want to go with you!" she said, rather matter-of-factly. James shook his head.
"No, Kira. You stay here. I'll be back later, okay?" he smiled, leant down and kissed her on the forehead, and then left without a word into the city.
Kira frowned. That silly brother of hers never let her go anywhere. But she'd memorised the card, from when he'd pulled it out of his pocket. And you never know, James could be in danger! So, using that as her justification, she pulled herself up into a crouch, and then walked slowly across to the main room and the front door. Now, the address she may have memorised, but she never did understand the door mechanism. And, after 20 minutes of trying to work the yale lock, she gave up and kicked it thrice, causing it to fall off the door in pieces. Smiling, and still barefoot, Kira left the apartment.

In the alley and covered in a cloth Jackie found her vintage motorcycle. It was way old, but Jackie liked old stuff so it worked. Two years ago it had been Aunt Genny's birthday present to her. She caressed smooth black surface. What was great is that it was vintage and Genny had had it revamped(on the inside) so that it was still functional and in good shape with modern technologies. Undoing her clip, her mass of red waves tumbled down and she was able to put the helmet over her head, black in color like the bike.
In short work, Jackie was heading north, loving that she could cut through the traffic as she went. Taking the bike usually knocked a good 15 to 20 minutes off her time, so when she arrived at the house it didn't surprise her that the attic light was on. Of course this worried Jackie even more as she parked a good hundred feet away from the house so that Aunt Genny didn't know of her presence.
The attic had always been off limits to her, and she had never been able to jimmy the lock. So at least Jackie knew that she'd been right about the whole affair being dodgy. She crept up behind the house to the rose trellis and prepared to scale it like she usually did. Jackie knew she wouldn't be able to see anything, she'd tried to peek through the windows one summer when she was ten to no avail. But she would be able to listen and at least that was something.something.

Kira headed onwards on foot, leaping across the high New New York skyline, building to building. Although small, she was incredibly fast, and made short work of the direction she was heading. As the buildings thinned out, she took to keeping to side shadows and going as fast as she could, using all five limbs for balance as she sprinted, determined to get there at a reasonable speed. However, reasonable as her speed was, she was not able to outdo something with a motor, so, as she arrived, she spotted James, knocking on the door, and a taxi pulling away. Carefully, and excessively quietly, she crept around the back of the house and silently began to climb the rose trellis towards where she could see the only light on in the house.

Jackie sat near the window so that if someone could see out she wouldn't be seen, but close enough that she could listen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door creaked open in response to James' knock. The entire house was dark and forboding. Though only one with good intentions could cross its threshold. Genny had made certain of that. And if the house approved of the young man then so would Genny.
Genny calmed herself as she held a box clutched in her hands. The contents of the box was only for a certain person but if James Staranise could make it up to the the attic then she needed it to tell her tale.
James gazed into the darkness nervously, lingering at the doorframe. "...Hello? Is there anyone at home?" he said. After a few silent moments, he took a few cautious steps over the threshold and gazed around, craning his neck up towards the soft light he could see filtering from the staircases. "Ms Star? Are you here?"
As he gained no response, he began up the stairs, tiptoeing, wincing as every stair creaked mournfully under his footfall.
--
Kira reached the top of the trellis, and looked up at the moon. It wasn't late. Slowly, she moved her perception across to the house, and jumped at the sight of Jackie. Her eyes went wide and she kept very, very still. Since she was 6, the only person she'd ever come into contact with was James. The fact that there was another humanoid creature not 4 feet away from her shook her. However, Kira had a rather difficult-to-resist impulse to jump on her. Not in an aggressive manner, of course, but in a playful manner. And Kira, not being very good at controlling her impulses, took it upon herself to leap onto the unknowing Jackie's back with a playful grin on her face, tail swishing in the air.
Jackie let out a scream of surprise as something jumpped on to her back. She nearly slipped, but was able to catch herself at the last moment. Looking behind her at what had jumpped on her back she screamed again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Genny had heard James start up the stairs, but then had heard the screams. Her eyes darted to the window, but she saw nothing. Though she didn't trust that. Realizing who it might be, Genny thought it might be a good lesson if she fell off the roof for trying to eveasdrop. Though it wouldn't be bad if she overheard some of what was about to happen.

James jumped out of his skin as he heard the scream echo around the house, and paused on his stair, glancing around him wildly. He could see nothing but dust and darkness. "Ms. Star? Are you here? Ms. Star!" he called out again, slightly louder this time, rather eager to recieve a response.
--
Kira leapt off Jackie's back in shock, landing on all fours and hissing, glaring at her. She hadn't expected it to make such a loud, hurty noise. She twitched her ears, to make sure they were still intact, never taking her eyes off Jackie.

Genny didn't respond to James' calls. He needed to find his way to her himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``
Jackie stared at the thing that had jumped on her back. It was a cat or a girl. She couldn't figure out what.
"What...Who are you?" Jackie asked cautiously and quietly so they wouldn't be heard. She was going to ask what are you but thinking that it might be a girl and not a cat she felt that would be rude.
(I keep responding to this, not pressing "post", and switching the computer off...)
"I just wanted to plaaayyy!" wailed Kira, upset at how easily she'd been cast off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
James glanced around through the silence, getting more and more nervous. He reached around his neck and grabbed the two tiny medallions that hung from the chain under his shirt in his sweaty palms, calming hmiself for a moment, before continuing further up the stairs, pendants now outside the shirt and swaying with his every step.
(For reference, attic door/ladder open or closed?)

(door open, its a staircase like in charmed)
Jackie immediately grabbed the girl/cat and put her hand over her mouth.
"Quiet. if they catch us out here we'll both be in trouble." Jackie hissed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A stream of light filtered down from a down from yet another staircase. The light flickered as if from a flame. In actuallity the light in the attic came from several flickering candles. Genny prepared herself after so many years she was about start down a journey that she hoped that would finaly grant her peace for her mistakes so long ago.
Kira sniffled and mumbled something inaudible. She licked Jackie's hand meekly, but resisted the urge to bite her and move her. Something deep inside her stopped her.
----
James caught the light in his gaze and his heart stopped pumping quite so madly. He'd never been in a place like this before, but it seemed to make much more sense, and was slightly more comforting, than the Medical Institutes, Asylums and Hospitals he'd been in before. And knowing this, and grasping one of the pendants in his hand, he continued up to the second flight of stairs, tiptoeing up every step.
Jackie, satisfied that the cat/girl would be quiet and disgusted that she had licked her hand, removed her hand from the cat/girl. Then made a face and wiped her hand on her skirt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Genny knew he was close and she took a deep breath. She had kept so much hidden over the thousands of years. Things she had never told Jade or Phoebe, either Ki or Link. She hadn't even had the heart to tell Ian. And the others before them. Maybe she should have. Maybe she could end the cycle. Maybe this time she wouldn't have to watch her charges destory themselves. Maybe she would be forgiven.
So with those thoughts, Genny used her power to reveal herself as she had once been. Her long flowing blond hair reached the floor. her crystal blue eyes of her youth returned and she wore a blue toga of the Greecian style. No wrinkles graced her face. She was in a word stunning. On her head she wore simply gold circlet.
During the transformation cracklings of power could be seen, heard and felt by those who had been touched by the magicks of the world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Outside, Jackie shivered felling something down in her soul.
Kira pouted in a very sad manner and curled up on the rooftop in silence, staring at the window. She could smell James as he reached the top of the staircase.
---------
James trod carefully over the top step, shuddering slightly as his pendants pulsed momentarily. "Miss... Star?" he said, gazing a Genny with a quizzical eyebrow raised, smaller pendant still in his palm. The other, slightly larger pendant, was rough cut. Almost like a glass had shattered, and only a few pieces had been recovered. It had what appeared to be white matter swirling around inside, with an occaisional grey spot. Only very occaisionally.
