Emily smiled, but her eyes were fixed on where Link had been instead of on her father.
"She knows I'm here. She just doesn't believe it," she said, a wistful tone in her voice, before shaking her head in a mimic of Link's gesture. "And that's enough."

Kira allowed herself to be herded out, wanting to raise her voice but knowing she'd been dismissed, and just looked lost to Taylor, who gave her a brief nod. They understood each other. They knew what they'd heard, and that was enough for Kira to relax slightly as James hooked his arm around her, guiding her as they walked to the dining room again. He gave Jackie a worried sideways glance as he did.

"They would explain why you haven't moved on. Why you walk in their footsteps, here but not really. It can't be easy." Merrick said watching his daughter's spirit. "You shouldn't be here anymore than I should."

Jackie tried to give James what she hoped was an encouraging look.
In the great hall, Link summoned up an extravagant breakfast that laid it self on the table. Everything from eggs and bacon to tomatoes and beans on toast.
"I think this is more your speed." She commented as she passed James to get to the head of the table.
"What is everyone in this family's obsession with a large breakfast?" Jackie said with a sigh. As she studied the table more, her eyes grew large. "Is that watermelon? But it's not in season." She asked barely able to believe her favorite fruit was just sitting there.
"You'd be surprised what a little magick and a well tended greenhouse can do. I grow all the fruits, vegetables, and herbs we use here." Link commented. "Taylor, perhaps you and your father could take a look to see if I could improve my techniques at all." Jackie didn't need more explaining than that and began to pile the sweet, messy melon on her plate.
"Will you be sharing any of that?" Tylir asked with a laugh.
"Ha, yeah right." Jackie said grinning ear to ear. Then she saw Kira and a knot formed in her chest. "Unless Kira would like some. But the rest is mine."
"You really are more like Ian than anyone else in the family." Link said as she poured herself some tea.

Fiona didn't care about breakfast. She didn't care about the others, not anymore. Her wish had finally been granted. Tamarask had people again. Even if it was a small handful, it was more than she had ever seen within its walls. And yet, she felt more alone than ever.
"I can't believe you still have time for me, now that you have real friends." The Captain said as Fiona sat on a decrepit looking bench. She gripped the edges so hard that the Captain thought she would break the rotted wood with her bare hands.
"You are my real friend. My only real friend." Fiona insisted.
"We've been through this, Fi." He said sadly. "You need someone who isn't dead. Friends you can be with outside these walls."
"No, I'll be like Mamar and never leave Tamarask. Then we can be friends forever."
"You sound like a spoilt child." He said but not in a harsh tone. Fiona turned away from him.
"I know I shouldn't be upset and jealous. And i always knew I was only taking the princess' place but... " Fiona couldn't use her anger to hide the pain any longer and she let her tears fall, clearing specks of dust with each drop. "I didn't think being replaced would hurt this much. Even Mamar has new people to dote upon."

"I wasn't finished," Emily said blandly, a similarly wistful smile on her face. "I needed to make sure Tryamon got where she was supposed to."

James smirked and took a seat opposite Jackie, pulling Kira into the seat next to him where she sat blankly facing the food. He sighed gently and built a plate of food which seemed less than he would normally eat, before placing it in front of Kira, then beginning a more gargantuan plate for himself.
Taylor eyed the whole spread suspiciously, before glancing up at Link.
"Coffee?" she asked, hopefully, as if the food weren't anywhere near as important to her.

"Oh please, let there be coffee." Jackie chimed in. Link laughed.
"Of course." Link said picking up the silver coffee pot and pouring two cups. She passed them down and Jackie drank them gratefully. Tea was also passed down to James and Tylir. As breakfast continued, Tylir filled Link in on the progress of everything. Then he got to part about Jackie having nightmares and the feeling of a short timeline. Jackie shifted in her seat and poked at the watermelon.
"I would say you're right that something is coming." Link said looking at Jackie to show her faith in her. "I would say the next step for everyone would be to head to the eleven palace to collect Kali and to introduce Taylor to the council."
"Don't you think that's a bit much, right a way?" Tylir questioned. Link looked at Taylor. She was so new to all of this and to thrust her under the nose of the council first thing did seem a bit cruel.
"I suppose I can delay them for a few weeks. Besides we have to deal with the end of the world first." Jackie nearly choked on her coffee at the calm way Link spoke.
----------------------
"Shame." Merrick said. "That after finding you again that I will more than likely losing you again."
