Sam skimmed the list. "Right then." he sat forward again on the mule and headed off the ship. He spent the next couple of hours making deals for his goods. They were selling a lot better than he imagined they would. Folks in this town were quite well off. After he'd sold the majority, he went to look for parts. He didn't know what any of the things on the list were but he figured someone in town must sell 'em.

Now that everything was in place again in the med bay, Siegfried locked up and headed back into the cargo bay where Fayth was: "We still have any of that coffee you mentioned?" he asked her.

Fayth turned to the Doc and nodded. She brought the cup to her mouth and moved to the stairs. 'So much for not speaking so much,' she thought. "Plenty. Still waitin' on milk an' sugar."

"It's better than we had a few hours ago." he said to that: "How are your wounds holding up?" he inquired: "We managed to find some of the more important supplies, so treatment is back on track again."

She nodded. Now that the Doc was on board she could count on the guy to do all the talking to everyone. Fayth just wanted the hours to back to twenty four ago. Things were normal.
"I'm good." Her hand throbbed dully but the last thing she wanted was to be stuck in medical with the Doc trying to make small talk. She moved into the mess and grabbed a second cup, setting the water to boil once more.

He'd found some of the parts but the list still had quite a number of items. Frustrated with the confusing town, he decided to ask a stranger. He turned off the mule and walked up to the man in a trench coat that he saw in the pub earlier.
"Hey," he called to get his attention, "know where I can get these parts?" he asked showing the list, "There's a couple o' coins in it for you."

Rufus heard the stranger's call and spun to face him. He glanced down at the list, it was a fairly extensive list of parts, but none should be too difficult to acquire round these parts. From the list he could tell the ship in question was a Firefly class. A firefly was just the kind of ship he was looking for.
"Now then, I know exactly where you can get all these parts, and I'd be more than happy to tell 'ya. But with a ship like that, and on a planet like this, I guess I'd be right in saying you're going to be going to the outer worlds rather than into Alliance space" He paused for a moment, stroking his goatee.
"If that be the case, then I think we can do ourselves a deal. What says you give me a ride on your little vessel 'till we find a world I like, and in return, I'll call in all the favours I got left on this rock and get you thems parts you need?"

"Hmm." Sam pondered. "If you can get me these parts for nothin' then you got'a deal. S'long as you're not on my ship too long and leave us to our business." He was strict about passengers, he worried they'd stick their noses where they didn't belong. "Why not alliance space? You ain't running from them are you? 'Cause we got enough bother of our own without you bringin' trouble up our ass." He was keen for the parts, but having the Alliance on their tail when they had so many stolen goods wasn't worth it.

"I 'aint runnin' from nothin', I'm just not overly fond of them Alliance types. I prefer to be on these less "civilised" world where I can do some good" he said. The way he emphasised the word civilised showed nothing but scorn. Realising how bitter he must sound, he smiled at the man in front of him before continuing in a far more genial tone.
"Now don't worry, I 'aint no interloper, nor am I a dead weight. I can handle myself pretty dang well. I'll offer my assistance when I can, keep out of 'yer way when I can't, and I'll be off 'yer ship before you know it. Now I'll go call in them favours and get you 'yer parts." He smiles again, tipping his hat before going to walk off. As he turns, he freezes, spinning back around.
"I just realised, I haven't even introduced ma'self. How rude of me. The name's Rufus, Rufus Perry" he says, before offering the man his hand

"Sounds like we got a deal then, Rufus." He shook the man's hand. "Captain Sam Bennett. We're a Firefly class named Fúpái on the edge o' town. I'll meet you there by nightfall." He let go of Rufus' hand and nodded before sitting back on his mule.

Rufus hopped back onto his cart and grasped the reins of his horse. He had a lot of people to visit to round up the parts needed before sundown. Perhaps, if time permitted, he could even pay a visit to the farmer at the market who's herd he'd saved from some cattle wranglers last year, grab some fresh food, knowing how such provisions were like gold-dust to ship crews. If he was really lucky, he might be able to get a bottle of that local Bourbon he was so fond of. And it was with that pleasant thought in mind, he rode off to gather the supplies.

“Yeah, so I was thinking the aft alternator cou-” Mei began.
“It’s fine to fly with. Sparking shows it’s alive, perhaps a little too alive. Get her running and she’ll be okay.”
“Oh, alright. Eh… Fuel cells, they’re dama-”
“Damaged?! Ma’am, these are bone dry and burnt themselves out, I’m guessing a little while before your attack. Wouldn’t have helped your exit. Who was in charge of fuel maintenance?” Don interrupted with a tone of aggravation. He was looking at the engine, not Mei, but she guessed he was frowning.
“Oh, that was the old engineer’s job,” she lied. It was her job. She just wanted to save some scraps of her dignity.
“You were right about the Grav Dampener. It’s a pain when the failsafe trips out like this. When the Captain gets those parts, I can show you a neat trick to preventing that. Hull damage ain’t life threatening as long as you ain’t planning to get shot up too badly in a firefight.”
Don turned around on that last point, and Mei smiled at him. He was being more than an arse when it came to criticising her guesswork, but he was clearly striving to be friendly and she could appreciate that. She began to leave the engine room.
“Y’know” Don began “I have nothing but praise for your last engineer. The fuel cells isn’t the worst slip up I’ve seen, and he really kept this old girl in great shape.”
Those comments really hit Mei, and for a moment her guard faltered and her constant bouncy happy demeanour fell apart. She thought best to retire into the cockpit for a while to think about things. Don carried on doing what he could do before the captain returned with the supplies.

Sam arrived back at the ship and pressed his earpiece. "One o' y'all kind folk let me in please? And tell the engineer I reckon I broke this mule."

"Welcome back Captain." Siegfried was still in the cargo bay, about to head to the mess hall for the coffee so he was the one who opened the door for Sam. "Did you have much luck getting supplies?"

"I did indeed!" He stepped off the mule and dusted his hands together. "Our new passenger is bringing them all, free of charge." He began to walk off smugly, "And, I sold 90% of the goods for a better profit then we were going to originally get so I can pay our engineer quite well!" He walked off towards the mess hall and shouted behind him, "Yeah, you heard right! Things are looking up!"
