"That doesn't sound half bad to me, I can dig that. I presume you've got tools on your ship. What is she anyway? She a Bernard Class, an Arrowhead or... just an idea of what kind of ship this is will let me know whether it's a doable job or not."
Donald hid his excitement at this prospect. Sure, it wasn't going to be glamorous pay, but nothing was out here.

"Firefly." Sam stated, "And I'm Captain Sam Bennett." he put his whiskey down and held his hand out to shake the engineer's.

"Oh, a Firefly? Ain't seen one of them outside of the manuals truth be told, but I know the engine inside and out. Shouldn't be a problem."
The captain had outstretched his hand. Donald panicked - this could be the breaking point. This could be when this man just refuses Donald's services. He collected his thoughts and took a deep breath. Honesty was key. He could put off this matter until he was at the ship, but this man seemed truthful enough and he should be truthful in return.
"Well I won't be giving you a firm shake with my right hand Sam, on count of it not being at the end of my arm. It's a miracle i've found someone who needs an engineer in this bar, don't think i'm so much in God's favour that he'll sprout me a new hand as well. Honestly though, my skills aren't drastically affected by being a hand short."

Sam laughed and put his hand down, "Well now don't I feel like a fool. Your business is your business, I ain't bothered as long as you ain't bringin' trouble our way." Sam finished his whiskey and stood up. "Wanna come give her a look?"

"Bringing trouble?" Donald laughed "I can barely tie my own shoes, let alone cause anybody bother! Yeah i'm ready to have a look at your Firefly, lead the way Sam."
Donald had a genuine grin on his face. This all felt quite exciting. He felt like he'd be moving off this rock - maybe they'd need him full-time. Or even if not, the pay from this could surely ferry him to somewhere a bit busier. Still, he walked a few paces behind the good captain. He tried to recount all he knew about this kind of engine so he could get to work as soon as.

The final shop down, and all the priorities on his list were down; again, some of the other things were still missing, but at least now they had the more pressing supplies again, at least until they could find a more active market on a less remote planet. He could get things in his med-bay back up to a decent state once again. No trouble to boot, which was a bonus.
With a nod of thanks to the vendor, he headed out into the streets again, and started back along the way towards the ship.

Sam had no idea how he was gonna pay this guy, hopefully they could shift some of the stolen goods they had in their cargo bay while they were landed, seen as the buyers got killed by reavers. He led the way back to the ship, he reckoned they still had a god few hours before nightfall.
"She's missing quite a few parts as you can see, but she's a beauty when she's not in a crashed heap." Sam assured Don as they got nearer. "I'm on a tight budget, so if something needs replacing, don't tell me unless we can't fly without it. Got it?"
Sam pressed his earpiece as he reached the entrance, "Someone wanna open the hatch? Got an engineer."

Fayth had made the coffee and put it on a flat surface away from any of the controls. Pilots and mechanics were a pain in the ass when drinks were spilt. She'd managed a couple of sips, idly watching Mei working, before the Captain's voice was heard.
"I'll get it," she said and she ducked her head back out into the hall. A few seconds later, coffee still in hand she opened the hatch to the Captain and a stranger. Her eyes were fixed on this stranger, eyeing him cautiously. There was something off about him and it wasn't his less than clean appearance.
"Captain," she said and she stepped back, holding her cup up, "Got the coffee workin' 'gain." Her eyes moved to the stranger and she flicked eyes of sea blue to the man, hoping her silent stab of curiosity would force the Captain to explain.

"Good timing." Siegfried had reached the ship a few minutes after the Captain and Don had, so had turned up just as Fayth had opened the door to the ship: "Captain, do we have a passenger?" he asked, seeing the newcomer who he didn't recognise.

"Ooh good, that for me?" He said, taking the cup from her hands. "Fayth meet Don, Don this is Fayth. She's good with guns." He took a sip from the coffee before putting it down. "Ahh Siegfried, this is Don, engineer. Don this is the doc. Right that's enough introductions I think." He headed toward the mule. I'm gonna try and make some trades before the day is out. Reckon you can look after our guest?" He started up the engine and began to move towards the hatch.

Fayth retook her cup with a frown. A new engineer. She narrowed her eyes at him, shoved a hand into her pocket and eyed the guy. The Doctor stood just outside the door and she turned to walk over to the Captain, sipping her hot drink. The Doc could deal with the guy. "Mei's got a list o' things she'd want. I'll go an' get it for ya."
She gave the new engineer another look and moved up the stairs and back to the galley.

"Great." Sam said sarcastically as he let go of the handles of the mule and slumped back in his chair. "I'll wait here then."

Don waved his left hand to the crew members as he was introduced. He didn’t have much to add that the Captain didn’t already include. He was very fixated on just how ruined the ship was. Not irrepairable, but it would probably bare some of the scars until it had an entire hull replacement. An entire hull replacement would burn a hole in whatever credits the Captain had stored away. He watched Sam start the engine and then he winced – that mule sounded a little ill. Nothing bad, just something needed tweaking.
He watched Fayth leave the room, and then Mei wandered out of the cockpit into the cargo bay. She looked the newcomer up and down; greasy looking bloke, clothes barely intact, inquisitive look. That was an engineer if she ever saw one. She did her cutesy smile as she walked over to him.
“Mei Xing, pilot of this here ship! C’mon, I’ll show you the engine room.”
She went to grab his hand to guide him through the ship. Only there was nothing there. Nothing but stump. Horror-stricken, she jumped back and the engineer couldn’t help but laugh at Mei.
“Ain’t the first time that’s happened miss. My other hand’s still fit as a fiddle though, you can guide me by that.”
Mei looked him up and down, a little bit of a disgusted sneer on her face but she kept her cool. She started walking towards the engine room, feeling a little embarrassed. Donald followed after her.

Fayth grabbed the list off the table and moved back to the cargo bay. She passed Mei and Don and just passed them a brief glance before she stood in front of the Captain. "Here ya' go. I'll lock up after ya'."

"Nice to meet you." Siegfried gave a small wave to Don: "I'm sure I'll have chance to talk more a little later, for now I must get these supplies secured in the med bay." with that, and a small nod to the others, he headed to the med bay, and began to put the new medical supplies away in their proper places.
