With the Captain's reaction pretty much setting the scene for the initial part of the following 'conversation' if one could use that word to describe Lin being Lin. Though all things considered it seemed to be going better than he would have usually expected given the circumstances. The girl had guts, that was for certain; and she seemed to be smart.
Once the negotiations came to a conclusion, he watched as Deryn headed towards the doors, then looked to Lin: "Do you still want me on hand to be civil with the Alliance, or would you like to leave it to whatever she has up her sleeve to get rid of them?" he asked her.

"Sir?" the cadet asked, quite puzzled by his commanding officer's behaviour. The lieutenant snapped out of his daze and glared at the imp before him "What?!"
The cadet blanched and took a step back before clearing his throat "The Firefly is next up sir. Also your sniper is in position, but having trouble getting face recognition from his current vantage point"
The lieutenant circled his hand once and marched towards the Firefly, taking note of the bow markings. 'Valhalla' He pondered on it's significance for a moment before realising he stood on the boarding ramp. His platoon lined up behind him in parallel lines. "Who is the captain here?" he announced, trying not to look down at the girl he couldn't place a name to. "We require an inspection of this ship for stolen goods, you can co-operate or stand aside"

Thinking of the wretched Deirdre Colingsworth from school, Deryn turned to face the man go had spoken. She looked him up and down in a condescending fashion while assessing his uniform to denote his rank.
"So you are the reason for delay." Deryn said with a snap. "And here I was about to dock this vessel's commission due to incompetence. Now I see that it's just another lieutenant trying to justify his pay grade. And as for stolen goods, do I look like the type of person to associate myself with criminals? I mean do you even know who I am? This insult will not go unnoticed. I will have your name lieutenant. Now please." She pulled out a tablet and opened up a folder on the screen. Raising her eyebrows expectantly, "Well?"

To say he was surprised was an understatement. The girl was throwing her weight around with some force at that. Whoever the hell she was would make this conversation a whole lot more interesting.
Interest piqued he stood a little straighter, one arm resting against the stair rail, and watched with curiosity to what would happen next. He had no idea who she was, her face and voice not recognisable or memorable. Then again, he thought as he tilted his head to one side in thought, he didn't make it a habit of visiting nor remaining on the core worlds. People around these parts might recognise her, but he didn't.
He eyed up the men that lined up behind the lieutenant and felt his eyes narrow, a hand straying to his hip. Whilst the Cap had said no guns to keep their attentions low, Morgan couldn't help the pistol he'd kept in his tool belt that he didn't leave anywhere. He let a hand stray onto his hip, waiting in expectation of what was going to happen next.
