Skygge stared hard at her. "Even if I say no, you're just going to follow me, aren't you?"

Kayleh turned pink and tried not to meet the man in black's eyes. How had he known.
"Well you know the way" Kayleh admitted. Pan seemed satisfied with this anwser and curled up by the hearth with a smile. All was going according to plan. Demona would be most pleased.

May as well carry her along, if she's just going to follow me. At least that way, she'll have some protection. "Very well then, you're free to come. We'll leave when you're ready."

"Thankyou, Thank you so much." Kayleh's face lit up and she couldn't hide her beaming grin. "thank you ...ummm, what is your name?" It would probably be a good thing to find out before they started traveling together.

"My name is Skygge," he said simply. He took the chair once occupied by the young boy and closed his eyes. His mind went over what had just happened. Briefly, he wondered if this was a really bad idea.

"Skygge" Kayleh said trying out the way it sounded rolling off her tongue. "Great I'll be right back." With that she dashed upstairs once more. Pan stayed behind as if to make sure Skygge wasn't tricking his mistress.

Skygge opened his eyes to see the girl's cat in front of him. He wondered why the cat seemed so insistant that the girl travel to Thalaria.

Kayleh didn't take long. She always kept a a rucksack packed, just in case. Closing her eyes, Kayleh placed a hand on the chocker around her neck as if making a promise to it. After writing a letter to Sven, she reappeared in the kitchen ready to go.
"Whenever you're ready Mr. Skygge" She said with a nod.

Skygge stood and nodded once. "Let us be off then," he said. It was as he started in Kayleh's direction that he heard it, a distant scream.
"Stay here," Skygge said roughly. He then dashed out of the kitchen, towards the scream.
His path took him outside, to the center of the the snow covered trail. There before him was a little girl. She couldn't be any older than twelve. In front of her was a creature as black as coal. Saliva poured from its mouth as it approached the girl.
The thing was tall, taller than Skygge himself. It walked on two legs and had claws on both its hands and feet. Two curved horns adorned the top of its head, as well as a couple spikes on its tail.
Skygge didn't waste any time watching the scene before him. He quickly unsheathed his obsidian claymore and swung the massive blade in a downward angle. A large wave of dark energy launched towards the creature. It struck the monster in its side, launching it a ways into the side of a snow covered hill.
Skygge walked over to the little girl and picked her up. The child clung to his neck as he carried her to the inn's entrance. "Are you ok, lass?" Skygge asked her in a quiet gentle tone. The girl nodded her head once in response.
At that point, a roar of rage filled the air. "It still lives," Skygge said under his breath. He stood up straight then and turned in the direction of the sound. The creature had risen to its feet. Its hungry eyes now focused on Skygge.

Kayleh had rushed towards the door when Skygge had left. She stared at the scene a look of horror on her face. The past came flashing before her. There were only two different factors. It was a man saving the little girl and the sun was out. Tears threatened to fall, but the child needed someone. So when she was standing next to her at the door, Kayleh hugged her and comforted her while trying to shield her from the vision of the creature, as well as herself.

Skygge readied his sword as he stared down the creature. The glare Skygge threw at it seemed to unnerve the monster. It seemed hesitant to attack, as if it knew, deep down inside, that Skygge was far too much for it.
Skygge, however, did not care. It had attacked a child, something unforgivable to him. "You will not harm anyone again," he said in a deathly tone.
Skygge held his sword at his side and dashed at the monster. The creature stayed frozen in place, a look of fear evident on its face. The creature never moved, not even when Skygge's blade bit deep into its side. In a flash, the blade cut all the way through, splitting the creature in half in a swift, clean manner.
Skygge stood up and slashed his sword a couple times, in an attempt to fling the monster's blood from the blade. When satisfied, he resheathed the sword.
It was as Skygge turned that he became aware of the crowd around him. They all stared at him. Shock, fear, admiration, all of these emotions lined the faces of the bystanders. One person in the crowd, a young male, gave a loud cheer. At first, he was the only one. Soon, though, several others from the crowd followed suit.

Kayleh said nothing as Sven appeared and took the child inside. Pan jumpped into Kayleh's arms, seeming to know exactly what she needed. She said nothing to Skygge as she went to stand next to him. Her eyes refused to look at the bisected creature. Kayleh wanted to leave and right then. But she remained silent.

Skygge stayed still for a while. He was wondering about the creature, wondering why it attacked in daylight. He noticed Kayleh had moved next to him, during his thoughts. "Is the child ok?" he asked softly.

"Yes, Sven is taking care of her." Kayleh's voice was distant. She heard her own voice but it didn't sem to be herself speaking. Her thoughts were still on the past of 8 years ago. Pan rubbed his face gainst Kayleh's o comfort her. "Why did it attack during the day?" She wondered out loud.

"I do not know," Skygge replied. "Its race is not known for appearing in daylight." Skygge stayed quiet for a bit. "At least the child is safe. That is all that matters."
