"You moved her to France," retorted Emily, sticking out her tongue at James as she went to the breadbin and carried the bread over to the side.

Ki picked Ian up and spun him round as he reached her, smiling down on him before glancing up at Link.
"Honestly, if she weren't so adorable I'd have killed her with my bare hands 17 times over by now," Ki said, gritting her teeth into a grin.
"I'm ALWAYS extra good!" Kaiya chirruped down the phone, swinging her legs whilst she sat on the bench, "Specially on planes."

"Only 17?" Link said with a raised eyebrow. "Ian, no more slide for now. Go play on something else."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I mean Mommy's kind of extra good. Ok?" Phoebe said.
"Ohhh-kay," Kaiya sing-songed, continuing to kick her legs. "Do you wanna talk to mommy now Aunt Phoebe? I wanna play on the swing!"
"17 is generous, I think. It's like she hit the terrible twos, decided she liked them, and will never ever resurface." Ki groaned a little, watching Kaiya as she pushed herself up from the bench.
"Link, can you push me on the swings?" Ian asked.
"Ask Teddy…" Link started and looked around. The boy with the beautiful brown eyes was gone. "I guess he went back to class." though it seemed odd that he didn't even say goodbye.
"Sure, I'll push you" Link told her little brother and he ran to claim a swing.
"good idea, Kitten." Phoebe said still smiling. It would be several hours but the jet was already refueled and on it's way to New York.
As James and Emily prepared lunch, James sang in Elvish. It was pretty and melodic. It was about a young mortal boy growing up and changing form boyhood wonder to adult responsibilities.
"And the seasons, they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on a carousel of time We can't return, we can only look Behind from where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game"
Kaiya hurried over to Ki and handed her the phone before chasing after Ian towards the swings.
"How much have you corrupted my daughter, then?" Ki spoke with half a grin, holding the phone between her shoulder and her ear as she followed the others over to the swings.
Emily hummed quietly along to James's singing as she carefully chopped lettuce and grated carrot. Living here had been one of their more peaceful settlements of the past few years. Despite the gentle affection she'd developed for travelling, she loved this house and it made her happy just to be in it, calmly making lunch and interacting with the man who fulfilled every fatherly requirement she'd ever had.
"I just asked if she wanted to come for a visit." Phoebe said innocently. "oh and while she told me every detail of her life I sent my jet back to New York. It should be back and ready to go by tomorrow night. The pilot will text you when they land so that you have a few hours while they refuel and get ready to set out again. Is that enough time to pack?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, I'll get you started first Ian and then you practice pumping your legs like I taught you. Then I'll be pushing Kaiya. Is that a deal?" Link asked the two children.
Ian nodded and sat on his swing waiting for Link.

Ki rolled her eyes in a good natured way and glanced at her watch.
"I'm sure it is. Am I allowed to put the kitten in a suitcase, or is that considered unethical?"
she asked with a half smile, watching Kaiya clambour clumsily onto the swing beside Ian.

Once Link got Ian going, she knelt near Kaiya.
"Kaiya, once you get going, you're going to pump your legs to keep swinging. When you go forward, you put your legs straight out." Link moved Kaiya's legs into the right position. "then as soon as you come back, you tuck your legs under, like this." Again Link moved Kaiya's little legs. "and you keep doing that over and over again. Time to try."
Link moved behind her cousin/niece/whatever and pulled back the swing to let it go. She pushed the little girl while encouraging her to pump her own legs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"She promised to be good. Besides, it's my jet and it has a Blu-ray and DVD player. Switch on a few Disney movies and all will be well." Phoebe said with a yawn.
Kaiya took a few tries to get used to the order in which she had to move her legs, but after three or four swings she was successfully moving her legs straight as she swung up, and tucking them in as she swept down, half-turning in her seat to look for Link's approval, though this took her a little off balance.
Ki rolled her eyes, and she was sure Phoebe could feel it, despite not having the visual.
"Like that will work... Tell me where I have to be and when, and I'll endeavor to do it without too much interference from devious little hands and feet. Shall I tell the rest of the family where we'll be going?"
"if you wish" Phoebe said with a yawn.
"great job" Link told Kaiya with a smile. "now keep going." Link hopped on to the open swing next to them and was soon flying higher than both of them.
"I'll let Jadey know so she doesn't half-kill herself trying to find us. Between that and trying to get my child out of the park and into a suitcase, I think I've got enough to carry me right up until we leave..."
Kaiya watched in awe at how high Link could swing, forgetting to move her legs in her wonder and slowly coming to a stop.
4 years later
I wish I had known then what I know now. I wish I had insisted that Aunt Ki had stayed. I wish my world had been filled with secrets and lies. I hate lies! I hate secrets! Yet, they seem to be my lot in life. If I had told Uncle James, Aunt Ki or Aunt Phoebe, I might still have her. Maybe she wouldn't have jumped. Maybe Kiara, Ian and I would still have a mother. If I had spoken up, maybe, just maybe, someone could have helped her.
Present day
Link laughed as she flew using a tiny bit of magick to take her even higher. She could feel her worries and troubles still below her, waiting for her to land and over take her once more. But she just ignored them and let wind be her only friend.
Ian clapped at his sister's display as he stopped swinging too. He grinned with pride and shouted, "Aunt Kitty! Look at Link!"
Ki grinned as she finished her phonecall with Phoebe and watched Link, the ebb of a magickal air making the playground slightly warmer.
"That's technically cheating, you know!" she shouted, still grinning as she watched Link soar. Never one to be left out, Kaiya joined in briefly with Ian's clapping.
At the height of her swing, Link jumped and let the wind catch. She laughed as the winds set her gently on her feet.
"Who ever said magick was cheating?" Link asked with a sparkle in her eye as she turned to face Ki. "So, does Aunt Phoebe miss you enough to fly you out or come home yet?" She asked since Ki had hung up the phone.
Ki grinned.
"It is much more in Phoebe's style to do the more extravagant option, you should know that by now."
She allowed herself a small laugh, with the occasional glance at her alarmingly chirpy daughter, kicking her legs on her swing.
"Me and the kitten will be heading out later on."
