Greetings all, After a Moderator meeting this afternoon it has been decided that the rules of the board need to be outlined more clearly due to our increase in members, particularly in members who have little or no roleplaying or forum experience. This is, of course, a good thing, but it has come to our attention that perhaps the rules are a little too vague in places for people who haven't had a rule structure like this before. More importantly, the rather lax discipline system we've had up until this point is going to become much more strict - you are entered upon the warning system for breaking any rules, and some rules have rather more dire consequences. (Check me out, sounding all official. I haven't even mentioned pianos yet.) After that short digression, I continue. Heh. For ease of access, both the old rules and the new rules will be contained in this same thread. ORIGINAL POST. All edits will be in RED.Rules (Because, of course, a world without rules would mean confusion and power greed.) General Rules 1. Don’t be nasty! You nasty pasties. No being slating towards another person in a non-playful manner, or I’ll play mother and kill you both. 2. If I see any racist remarks, sexist remarks, or homophobic remarks, I will insult you, prove you wrong, and then consequently delete you. Your IP will not be allowed to register on the board anymore and you will be reported to Proboards Admin for abuse. 3. Don’t spam. In an advertising way. You get 3 warnings with this, and after that I’ll just block your IP address, because I like to do that in my spare time. 4. If you do want to debate something like sexism or an argument with another member, you have to nominate a member of staff to referee and you will be given a thread. Doing this without moderator approval and a separate thread will result in warning levels and consequent barring from the board.5. One of the things that has occurred more recently in the board is a very obvious abuse of the karma system. The karma system is intended for EXCESSIVELY good posts, well beyond any normal standard, that you believe are absolutely astonishingly good. This is not your ordinary everyday post. You should NEVER, EVER exalt someone more than once a day. Once a week, even. Taya is our highest contributing, longest-standing, most fantastic writing member, and Taya has 13 karma. If ANYONE has more karma than this or is seen to be issuing karma willy-nilly, their karma will be reset. RPG Rules: 1. If I find ANYONE God-Playing, I shall happily kill their character off without their permission for being so god damn annoying. All characters can be hurt, killed or kidnapped. You aren’t invincible. This also includes controlling characters that do not belong to you (piano dropping may ensue), adding factors that severly alter the setting and story without consulting the rpg owner (first person to post) and not kill NPC's (non player characters) or alter the personality or other factors severely, without permission of the RPG owner. Several "between the lines" clauses lie in God-Modding that are often unknown to new players and so shall be extended upon here. The first of these is basic: Your character is not all-powerful. I don't care if you're playing a goddamn overlord. You are flawed. If you are playing a human creature, 9 times out of 10, you cannot move at "inhuman" speeds. Your character's best mate is not suddenly the king. Your character does not know seventeen languages unless they are a language specialist. Your character will not win every swordfight, regardless of skill. And most importantly, your character does not get "lucky guesses". For those who can't guess what this means, "lucky guesses" are whereby someone else has, say, stated their character has a cunning plan, and yours magically preempts it. You are not Derek Acorah.
The other is the issue of Canon. Unless very explicitly stated in a great amount of detail, everything posted in Fan RPG MUST be Canon. Sailor Moon can't suddenly be a prima ballerina, or excellent at mathematics. Light Yagami can't become a reformed character. Quy Gon Jiin is NOT ALIVE (unless it is clearly stated it is prior to EpI, of course). Any time this happens, your thread could be subject to automatic deletion.
God-Modding is by far the worst offense on a board like this, and earns you an automatic warning level. A continued strain of God-Modding whilst under the warning system will cause you to... well, most likely receive a lecture from me in as many languages as you like (cos I AM all powerful. ). Any continuation PAST this results in serious action including in the barring from several of the roleplaying boards.2. Also, if you kill off someone’s character without their permission or the permission of a Moderator, your character will have a piano fall on them. Yes. **Note** This is not a good way of playing character suicide. If you want a piano to fall on you, do it yourself. I shouldn’t have to waste my time on it 3. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE write in Standard English. Yes, that’s full sentences, punctuation and capital letters. You instead of U, Because instead of Bcos, Et cetera. I’ll clip you round the earhole if you don’t. Also, all sentences must make sense and must flow. Speech must be speech. Everything should be written in standard grammar. No idea what I'm talking about? Go to the Tutorials Section. Of course, the unspoken clause in this is common courtesy - TYPOS. More and more frequently, posts are being made with an obscene amount of typos contained within them. EVERY modern browser comes with a built-in spellchecker. Proboards itself has had a spellchecker for at least 2 years. Please, it's just impolite. The occasional typo every now and then is fine, but I'm seeing regular laziness and up to 7 typos in one post.
Anyone who doesn't consistently use full stops will be beaten.
If this continues, all your posts will be subject to moderator approval before posting (don't test me. It's a very bloody easy button to click.) which will really affect your enjoyment of the game, and a warning level will be issued. Please do the sensible thing and just check. 4. If your character really annoys everyone else on the board, they can vote to have it killed and the vote may be sent to a Moderator for approval and piano-dropping. 5. If you’re going to do an R-Rated Scene, please do it elswhere. It's against Proboards Terms of Service and Luna will get in trouble. EXTRA NOTE: Please do not get moderators involved if it is not necessary. If you started the RPG, it is your responsibility. Try and solve your own problems first. You are your own moderators of threads you start. HOWEVER. If it is not your thread or you feel the owner of a thread is God-Modding, or violating any of the rules at all, you are well within your rights to anonymously bring this to a Moderator's attention and it will be dealt with. Owners are not exempt from the rules.

Oops - typing at 3 in the morning leads me to forget things occasionally -.-
To continue rule 5, punishment for abuse of the karma system will also be a 24 hour barring from the board. Don't do it sneakily. We can see it. We have a log.
A further rule for the RPG section, which I had previously forgotten, is POWER POSTING. If you are playing in a two-person game, feel free to power post. But if you aren't, you MUST stop posting between two people after 7 posts (between you, not each). Anyone caught breaking this rule will be given a warning, as it really is unfair on the other players and ruins games.

The rule "5. If you’re going to do an R-Rated Scene, please inform a Mod so they can warn people. It’s not nice to corrupt happy little 12-year-old girls without their knowledge." had to be removed.
I got a message from Proboards saying no no to that rule. and that anything of the sort could get the forum closed.
