Sasha pushed her sinking glasses back up the bridge of her nose, turning the old book she was holding around and holding it up to show the page header to the other two: Women in the Nazi Party.
"It lists all of the roles that women were allowed to fulfill in the time period, and discusses some of the roles which they weren't. Most importantly.. here," she turned the book back around to herself and began to recite as if reading in a classroom, the same mildly annoying tone in her voice as always.
"Due to Hitler's belief in a perfect German society, women were viewed in Nazi Germany primarily and solely as breeding stock. Having been forcibly removed from their careers prior to World War II, they were deemed too valuable as mothers and potential mothers to take part in any aspect of war which could result in any danger to their ability to bear children. Women who deviated from this - particularly those who attempted to participate in the political or military aspect of German society - were condemned, with the eventual set-up of three concentration camps specifically for women. There are no records whatsoever of any women belonging to the S.S. or the high ranks of the Nazi party, even as nurses or doctors."
She paused, and then moved her finger to a space earlier on the page, beginning to read again.
"Women were encouraged to dress in the traditional female style. They could be fined for dying or perming their hair, wearing heeled shoes, or wearing trousers in public."

"You're brilliant." Melanie grinned and threw her arms around Sasha. "This means I was right and that Nazi was actually from our time or even further in the future, but I have a feeling she is from our present."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Not for long." Grief stricken Mel muttered from Sasha's bedroom as she listened in on the conversation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Maybe Jimmy will see sense now." Melanie continued. "Someone else has this technology. Which means someone else is going back in time, too. What we don't know is why. Are these people observers or are they after some sort of personal gain?" She was speaking now more to herself than the others as she worked through her hypothesis. "They haven't published their findings. So I think we can assume that whoever they are, they have their own best interests at heart. We need to be careful. Come on, we need to talk to Jimmy. I'm not a fan of the idea that someone is going back and changing history." Mel pulled Ian along down the stairs expecting Sasha to follow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Future Mel waited until she knew her past self was clear. Then she grabbed Sasha from behind, putting her hand over the startled girl's mouth and dragged her back to her own bedroom.
Sasha tried to scream, but she knew the muted sound wouldn't be heard over Melanie and Ian's footsteps as they headed down the stairs. She struggled but even in her first moments she knew the person dragging her was bigger than her, as most people were, and was vaguely aware that the hand covering her mouth was softer than she would expect from a hardened kidnapper.
"Don't scream and don't freak out." Melanie said before she released Sasha and closed the door. Future Mel was still dressed in her denim jacket, black top, and jeans that were stained with Jimmy' and Harrah's blood. She tried to ignore the gun tucked into the back of her pants as she gave Sasha an apologetic smile, waiting for her reaction.
Ian was taken by surprised as he was pulled. Regardless, he allowed himself to be. So she was right, Jimmy was wrong. They'll tell him...but then what? There was still the lack of knowledge of who these people may be and where they were. Even if that was known...well, they were really just a group of kids. What could they honestly do in the end?
Melanie headed straight for Jimmy's house and began knocking on the door.
"Jimmy!" she called. "jimmy, we need to talk!" Mel pounded again, with no response. Where could he be? They only parted ways a little while ago. Where could he have gone? Then it hit her. "He lied."
Sasha's eyes bulged out of her head and she breathed in heavily, as if to scream, but didn't make a sound.
"How did you do that?!" She was aware she was half-whispering, half-hissing, but she wasn't sure why it was a secret.
"Lied about what?" Ian asked, a bit confused. "Here, let me try." Ian kicked at the door. It wasn't particularly hard, but enough to get a very loud knock. still, no answer. He doubted he'd be asleep, not this quickly.
"Think about it, Sasha." Mel said gesturing to her clearly different outfit. She knew Sasha was smart and could figure it out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"He didn't destroy the palm pilot. He used it. He's somewhere now." Melanie said to Ian. "Damnit."

"So," Ian began, "we've got no choice but to wait and confront him when he returns. Awesome." Ian shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned against the door. "Who knows when that will be though."

"I..." Sasha frowned, her brow deepening. "This is getting too weird," she said, taking another step back and looking Melanie over again. "Is that..." her skin paled as she glanced at the other girl's trousers. "Whose?"

"There has to be a way to track him. Maybe there is some sort of electromagnetic trace or something we can use to follow him." Melanie said to Ian, but mainly thinking out loud. "He could be in trouble. Especially, if that woman is following him. We need to get into his room. There might be a clue there."
----------
Future Mel looked at Sasha and tried not to cry, tried not to break down. She sat on Sasha's bed as everything seemed to overwhelm her.
"Not mine." She said with a shaky breath.
