(Yeah, for background information you're going to have to speak to Ginger or I. A note for ginger: The AU where a little cat girl was never found in the trash .) "Kiara." Her mother's voice was cold and harsh, and Kiara leapt to attention, stalking across the room - her mother's voice never failed to compel her. She went to one knee, head bowed. Her hair fell forward and curtained her face - she'd had trouble keeping it in place ever since her acceptance ceremony, the removal of the curse. It just didn't seem natural for her hair to be without said curse. "I have a task for you." although her mother's voice was toneless, Kiara could almost sense a hint of amusement in her mother's voice, perhaps some excitement. Viciousness. Inside her, fear began to dawn. "Yes, mother?" she asked, trying to keep her voice as even as her mother always seemed to manage. It wasn't working too well, and she saw her mother's smirk as she caught the hint of nervousness in Kiara's voice. She stood and wandered to the window, absently tracing her finger along the pane - it was one of the only rooms in the large manor that had a window. "I knew a girl, once, Kiara." Kiara stood and followed her mother, although maintaining a small distance. Alyssa Darkwind had a personal space that was not meant to be invaded. "It was a very long time ago. I was in the dark of my life, the pathetic show of my power. She, she never released her full power. She was always.. pathetic[/i]." Alyssa smirked. "She still is." Kiara watched the back of her mother's head, almost tempted to crease her expression in confusion. Just what was she insinuating? "But," she started, turning and taking a dynamic step towards Kiara. "She is powerful, even still. A senshi.. and a rather powerful one at that. You will prove yourself, Kiara." Kiara felt herself visibly wince, despite all her wishes not to. "You will prove yourself by bringing me her head. I want the head of Sailor Phoenix. And then, and only then,will you be fit for the Darkwind name. When Sailor Phoenix is dead."

"I am the senshi of death and rebirth, the cycle of life. I am Sailor Phoenix! And for doing wrong, in the name of the powerful Phoenix, I shall punish you." A young woman just around 18 shouted making a silly pose. She ws dressed in a senshi fuku and flaming red hair played in the wind. A tall lithe, but handsome pale blonde man stood to the side and grimaced. He turned to the man with the dark hai next to him and said,
"Please tell me you didn't tell her to say that, Ian" Ian laughed and shook his head.
"I was hanging out with some of Jade's friends." The red head said with a smile. "They said I needed a good opening speech. They helpped me write it." Ian started laughing again. "James don't you like it?" she asked.
"Phoebe, do me one favor." James said.
"What?" She asked.
"Never say that speech again."

Kiara paced her room, running her fingers through her hair, and seeing if she could remember how to do it, and to do it well. It was a rather complex procedure, and one she hadn't born much witness to since her mother could do it without speech. She used one hand to click her fingers and try and jumpstart her memory. Although she didn't like admitting it, her nervousness was putting her off. Her hands were shaking. A bead of sweat formed on her forehead as the spell rose clumsily to her mind.
"Trouve ca trouve ca. Trouve ca Sailor Phoenix..." she said, almost stuttering, voice shaking all over the place as she closed her eyes and joined her hands together, bracing herself for the rather bumpy teleportation spell that she'd never been very good at.

Ian started cracking up. And Phoebe tried to keep a straight face but Ian wasn't helping the situation.
"You should have seen your face man." Ian laughed. Phoebe couldn't help it she joined in the laughter as well. James scowled.
"That Aqua girl is a bad influence on both of you" James grumbled. He turned to leave the large open meadow and Phoebe, still in her fuku jumped down from the rock she was standing on.
"Aww, James don't be ..." Out of nowhere James was suddenly very close and had his hand over Phoebe's mouth. Her eyes were wide and Ian had drawn his sword.
"Change back now." James said softly in her ear, is voice filled with urgency. Phoebe nodded. She closed her eyes and her fuku melted into a swirl of orange ribbons and then she was dressed in simple breeches, shirt, vest and boots. "Someone's coming. I don't recognize the magick. If need be I want you to run for Genny's cabin."
"But..."
"If one of us says run, you run." Ian said no longer laughing. His face was stone as he prepared."

Kiara mentally stumbled as the object she was focussing on appeared to disappear from reality and her concentration fell mostly to pieces. She almost cursed out loud but tried to keep her concentration resolved, although without an object she knew it was going to be hazy. So, as much as she could, she kept her concentration, and materialized (as discreetly as possible) in the corner of the meadow.

"Who or whatever it is, is here." James said quietly. Ian's stance was of warrior ready to attack. All three sets of eyes glanced around the meadow, but only James' were sharp enough to see the girl a corner of the meadow.
"There, south west." James said his shoulders tensing as he drew an arrow from his quiver and noched it on his bow. Phoebe swallowed hard and wet her quickly drying lips.

Kiara quickly glanced around the meadow, and winced. She saw the three figures, in the distance, and didn't know if she'd been spotted, but knew it was a matter of urgency to rid their memories of her presence. She had no idea how close or how far she'd teleported from her destination, but she tried not to worry about that as she built up a ball of crackling energy in her hands, about the size of a crystal ball, and then made her way across the field, hands still shaking slightly, taking deliberate steps, slowly.

"She's young, but dark." James said. "Phoebe, get ready."
"But she's blocking the way." she protested.
"No, Ian is going to take you to Jade's or mabe Auron's."
"But he's no good at magick, he can't..."
"Yes he's just human, but you have magick in your veins, Phoebe." James didn't take his eyes off the girl as she approached. THen he shouted. "STOP WHERE YOU ARE! You are trespassing on royal lands! Identify yourself!"

Kiara's blood thundered loudly through her eardrums as she kept walking, remembering every step her mother had taught her. She moved closer, still walking at a rather slow, hopefully more confident than she felt pace, holding the ball of dark matter between her hands.
"Me?" she said, softly, not stopping, "I'm Kiara Darkwind." she stopped and hurled the ball at James.

"Go, NOW!" James shouted as he dodged the dark matter letting it hit the rock near them. Ian grabbed Phoebe's wrist and ran in the opposite direction. Phoebe stated muttering the spell hoping that she could open the portal in the trees in the distance for cover.
James fired his bow but there was a blue energy on the tip of the arrow as it flew in the direction of his now enemy.

Kiara swerved rather rapidly out of the way of the arrow, with not nearly as much grace as she should've since she was still regaining her balance, and nearly falling over, and cursing on the way. She frowned. This didn't look like it was going to be easy. It did, in fact, look like it was going to be rather difficult. She wasn't really expecting an encounter like this as she began to form long, shard-like creations in her hands of the same matter as the ball.

James had been about to give the girl one last chance, but he saw that she wasn't going to back down so easily. So he started to rapid firing arrows with the blue tips so that Phoebe would have enough time to get out of their. He wasn't about to let her try her powers against an unknown enemy until he felt she was ready.
Ian and Phoebe made it to the forest line completely out of breath. Her eyes were unfocused as she finished he spell. As soon as the doorway appeared, Ian pulled he through.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Phoebe's eyes were normal again, they were in a living room filled with pictures. Ian raised an eyebrow at Phoebe, she shrugged.
"I didn't think you wanted to see Jade and I don't think Logan would want to see you."
Kiara very rapidly stumbled out of the way of James's arrows and sent her shards at James, almost as rapidly as his arrows were sent at her. This wasn't what she'd been expecting at all, especially as a preliminary fight, and she was practically on the point of backing out, even if it was adverse to everything she'd been taught since she could remember. She kept covering the ground between herself and James, trying as she might to close the gap and hope he'd have to resort to a short-range weapon.
"Auron! Cassy!" Phoebe called. "Are you home?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
James having home field advantage, drew power from the earth beneath his feet and threw up a quick blue temporary shield deflecting Kiara's attack.
"Surrender now!" He shouted as he shot another arrow knowing soon he'd have to shift to his sword.

"I did wonder who was creating portals in my living room!" shouted down Cassy's cheerful voice from the top of the stairs. She came down, smiling, hand resting on a now visible pregnant tummy beneath her top. She frowned a little at the sight of them. "Should I ask what it is that brings you so urgently to my living room?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kiara scowled. Although she was rather nervous and although it had sort of seemed like a good idea to surrender a few moments ago, James's suggestion of it changed her mind.
"And why the hell should I?" she said, continuing to move closer, although her dodges were getting more creative, sending another round of her shards at James.
